Dayum, it's hot. Went out to run errands this afternoon around 3:30. (bad idea, should have gone this morning, but I was tired.) On the way to the library (1st stop), I heard on the radio that it was 91, with a heat index of 100. (According to the Weather Channel just now, it's 92/102.)

If feels it, too. They're saying 98 for tomorrow... think I'll be staying inside, in the AC! Between the heat and humidity, and the smoke coming in on the jetstream from the Colorado fires, it's not exactly easy to breathe out there.

Highs today:
Bismarck, ND - 111
Rapid City, SD - 109

Had planned to take the cats over to the discount shot clinic at PetCo this afternoon, but since the AC in my car finally gave up completely a few days ago that would have been dangerous and cruel. Maybe the one Monday evening...

If I haven't melted by then.

It's not like visible, smellable smoke. All the pollution from it is hanging in the air, leaving everything hazy. Makes the sun and moon look reddish. They've put out pollution warnings because of it.

Happened when Yellowstone was burning, back in '88. If there's enough smoke, and the jetstream sends it just the right direction...
