While looking up some stuff on the ADA regarding Service Dogs (in relation to some real thrills another lj user is having because of people who can't tell the difference between a service dog and a pet), I ran across an organization called Service Dogs Invisible Disabilities.

I knew that besides seeing eye and hearing assistance dogs there were service dogs, who carry things, help with balance, are trained to call 911, and the like. Recently I've been finding out that there are also service dogs that alert to things like allergic reactions, epileptic seizures, diabetes (glucose levels), migraines, and psychiatric problems ranging from mania and PTSD to anxiety disorders to loads of things. (Types of service dogs)

I had no idea... and so many of the dogs that are profiled started alerting to things first, and were trained how to react to those alerts after their person finally caught on to what the dog was doing.
