Why do I hate Qwest so much?

There are so many reasons, I'll let the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) and the State Attorney General deal with that.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil. are you affected by this at all? or did you have the good sense to avoid DSL altogether?

Well, I wanted DSL, but when I moved in here almost 2.5 years ago, it wasn't available "in this area". It finally became available just after I got laid off last year, so I've still been on dialup. NOT with Qwest!

Cable modem is starting to look good, but not until the financial situation improves.

TimeWarner has been really bad about letting people know what the requirements are for getting it. Depending on which of their people you talk to, you may or may not have to have digital cable to be eligible. Sorry, don't need to be paying out $120/month so I can have cable modem...

Finally did find out from billing recently that you don't have to have digital cable, so that bring it down to $80/mo. (Since you apparently DO have to at least have basic cable, which is about $40/month.)

Which I still say is obscene pricing for cable, but that's a whole 'nother rant.

we were paying about $40-45 for basic (AT&T Broadband) and found out that digital worked out to only like $10 more in the end, if that... not sure how much we're paying for the internet on top of that. (not my department.) apparently if we get our local phone service through their digital whatever on top of it all, we'd get a huge mother of a discount on everything, so we've been considering that. it'd be nice to have verizon completely and totally out of our lives...

WOW. Sounds nice... here it's almost $40 for basic, and just over $80 for digital, with roadrunner being another $40 a month on top of whatever you already have.

What a ripoff! I just wish TW wasn't the only game in this part of town. A little competition would be a good thing.

*cough* I pay $120 for cable :P

Then again I don't have the financial issues right now..

We have VERY basic cable here which is like $15 a month with like 20 channels.. I'm suprised TW doesnt offer it up there too...

Maybe the PUC here has different regulations...

You might also see if Earthlink is selling cable access in Mpls. TW/AOL is required to let other companies sell their cable services per the FCC rules on their merger.. no cable service was required, you just had to be in an area that allowed for cable modems..

To top it off, Earthlink was slightly cheaper and had more email addresses and maybe web space so and checking: http://www.earthlink.com/home/broadband/cable/tw/availability/
Minneapolis DOES have access to Earthlink cable.. something to think about anyhow...
