What a fucking loser.

Blames Blanco and Nagin for all the coordination problems, blames Horsesass.org for "[making] me somewhat ineffective" by exposing the exaggerations and lies on his resume, and when criticized by Rep. Shay for not having better equipment beofre the storm, even blamed the Department of Homeland Security.

He doesn't explan how it is that the Mayor of New Orleans and the Governor of Louisiana would be responsible for FEMA's screwups in Alabama and Mississippi. He also doesn't explain how Blanco and Nagin would have been able to screw up the FEDERAL response, over which they had no control.

The two "mistakes" he "took credit for":

1. Not having enough media briefings.

2. "I very strongly personally regret that I was unable to persuade Gov. Blanco and Mayor Nagin to sit down, get over their differences, and work together. I just couldn't pull that off."

Please. Those aren't even the issues at hand.

Where's an answer to "Why did it take so long for you to get your butt in gear?"

Where's an answer to "Why did you have FEMA blocking rescuers from getting into the area, why were you using first responders to hand out leaflets instead of "responding", and why did you block supplies from getting to where they were needed?"
"Brown also said he was "just tired and misspoke" when a television interviewer appeared to be the first to tell him that there were desperate residents at the New Orleans Convention Center.

Brown testified that he had already learned, one day before the interview, that people were flocking to the center."

So what Mr. Brown is saying, is that AFTER he knew about the situation in the Convention Center, it took him an extra day over what we knew before to get aid in there? Heck, that just makes him look even more ineffective and incapable.

He claims that "FEMA doesn't evacuate communities. FEMA does not do law enforcement. FEMA does not do communications."

It's a good thing he "left", since he doesn't even seem to grasp the scope of FEMA's duties.

Rep. Christopher Shays, R-Conn: "I'm happy you left. That kind of look in the lights like a deer tells me you weren't capable of doing that job." Later, during an exchange with Brown: "What I wanted you to do is do your job and coordinate."

Rep. Gene Taylor, D-Miss.: "The disconnect was, people thought there was some federal expertise out there. There wasn't. Not from you."

Rep. William Jefferson, D-La.: "I find it absolutely stunning that this hearing would start out with you, Mr. Brown, laying the blame for FEMA's failings at the feet of the governor of Louisiana and the mayor of New Orleans."
