No fan of the guy, but...
Sep. 5th, 2005 04:52 pmJerry Springer asked last Friday on his radio show: "If there were young, white women holed up in the Superdome, do you think they would be starving, thirsty and dying?"
Jer-ry! Jer-ry! Jer-ry!
Jer-ry! Jer-ry! Jer-ry!

I'm curious. You never take Bush that literally - do you have a different set of rules for him?

Date: 2005-09-05 11:05 pm (UTC)It is interesting too, that some of the young Brits got caught up in that Superdome reported being the subject of racist verbal abuse (they didn't go into detail).
Those poor white young (British) women apparently had to sit in the center of a ring of British males, for protection. I'd like to put Jerry Springer in that Superdome.
How can you possibly compare Bush with Springer? Bush has a far superior intellect than Springer! I thought Springer couldn't sink any lower, but I was wrong!
Pardon my French, but...
Date: 2005-09-05 11:56 pm (UTC)Pointing out one aspect of a situation DOES NOT LESSEN THE REST OF IT.
But you don't get that, do you? You just can't grasp that anyone who disagrees with Bush, or who is angry - hell, FURIOUS - about the complete clusterfuck this thing has been from a "disaster recovery" standpoint MIGHT HAVE A POINT.
How the hell is it that someone who's usually so intelligent can be such a complete ass-kissing apologist for a twit like Bush? (Don't worry, I've wondered that about a few people, including my aunt.)
Springer was talking about the lack of government response. He was talking about the fact that the government kept saying we're coming - but took their fucking sweet time doing so.
He was pointing out that when hurricanes hit Florida, response is MUCH faster.
He was referring to Chertoff's comment that they would have been faster if it had been a real disaster - CHERTOFF making light of the horrors and agonies.
As for intellect, Springer (cripes, I can't believe I'm defending a guy who does lame-ass daytime TV) can speak in complete sentences. He can THINK. He can put two and two together to get four. He doesn't stand around with a stunned, blank look on his face when things are happening around him. He has the fucking sense to listen to people who know more than he does about a topic.
(BTW- Springer held political office for at least as long as Bush has, before going into TV. Was a hell of a lot better at doing his job, too.)
Bush has a superior intellect to Springer.. cripes, let's face it. On a good day Bush is lucky if he can out-think a trained monkey.
Haven't you listened to the man, ever? My God, how anyone who's ever followed the news can claim Bush has a superior intellect to anyone...

Date: 2005-09-06 03:13 pm (UTC)And I've noticed in all your comments, that you didn't seem to be to terribly bothered when these things were happening to Americans - it was only when you started hearing stories from Brits who'd ben trapped in those same circumstances that you started actually being upset about it. And then, seemingly, only for the Brits who went through it, and no one else.
Your "get real" is a joke. As a few of the reporters in New Orleans have said to the talking heads back in the studio who suggested they "get some perspective", this IS the perspective. This IS real.
