Interesting.
Nov. 16th, 2004 10:26 amI Smell A Rat is an analysis of the exit polls vs. voting results in Florida and Ohio by a man who works with statistics and polling results every day, and saw something very very odd in the results.
The author (Colin Shea) tried adjusting numbers left and right to see if he could find a way for the results in several Florida counties to make any sense. A couple of them could be explained. Most couldn't.
Also discussed: the prevalence of extreme overvoting in Ohio. In one precinct of around 550 voters, over 9,000 votes were recorded. In one county, with a little over 250,000 registered voters, more than 350,000 votes were cast.
The official counts started this past Saturday. This count will include all validated provisional ballots, absentee ballots, and regular votes. It will be interesting to see what the final totals end up as.
