Gift card gotchas
Dec. 18th, 2003 01:25 pmSaw something in the paper yesterday about how some gift cards have fees removed monthly if you don't use them within a certain time period. Here's the list of naughty/nice they included with the article:
Which gift cards are naughty and which ones are nice?
Naughty -- Mall of America ($2.50 per month after six months), Walgreens ($2 per month after one year), Barnes & Noble (no replacement if lost) and Kohl's ($1.50 monthly fee after two years), Linens N Things ($2.50 per month after two years).
Nice -- Gift cards from the following retailers have no maintenance fees or expiration; they also provide free standard shipping for online purchase of gift cards, except as noted: Best Buy, Home Depot, Nordstrom, the Gap, Borders, Target and Marshall Field's ($2 online shipping fee).
