Weekend ramblings
Dec. 9th, 2001 12:05 pmThe family was in town yesterday, so we met up and watched the Hollidazzle parade in downtown Minneapolis. We'd wanted to see the Night Before Christmas display at Dayt-er, Marshall Fields, but while riding up to the 8th floor, the doors opened on 5th to a store employee saying the line started there- and it was about a 1 hour 45 minute wait. We decided to skip it...
Jessica and I met up earlier and went to the huge craft warehouse place just a few blocks from where I live, then off to Uptown so she could get her hair done at JUUT. (I'd link, but it's a flash-only site, and you have to download the whole bloody thing at once. Bad Design.)
While she was there, I wandered off and checked out Bobby Bead to see if they had thinner headpins. Most of their gemstone beads were far more expensive (and lower quality) than the places I usually go, but they had some interesting charms that I hadn't seen anywhere else, and the desired .021" width headpins.
Discovered there's a new Sawatdee in Uptown- took over what used to be a Chinese place. So that was a late lunch... from which I have some yummy leftover Ginger Chicken.
She mentioned that a friend of hers recently heard from a lady who owns a shop in St. Paul and is looking for people who would be interested in selling jewelry and such on consignment. Hello...! She's going to get me more info on that.
I've got several pair made already, and several more lined up just needing to be put on ear hooks. Now that I have the thinner headpins, I can use the rest of my lapis. May have to make a run to Into the Mystic today for more. (Usually I go to Veberod Gem Gallery, but ItM has a few more sizes & kinds of the semi-precious beads I want, some a little cheaper.)
I'd probably make them a lot faster if I were getting paid for it. *wry grin*
