Feb. 9th, 2003 03:05 pmSince I have an interview Tuesday, I thought it would be a good idea to go get my hair cut (first time in 8 months or so) and make sure I did some color touch-ups over the weekend. Yesterday I went to get my hair cut.
Somehow, the lady interpreted "just below shoulder length- long enough so I can pull it back or put it up if I want" to mean an inch above my shoulders. Since she started with the back, by the time I saw how short she was cutting it there wasn't a thing I could do about it.
It looks okay, mostly- the undercutting on the ends doesn't seem to have been done quite right for my hair so there's the occasional bit that curves out instead of under, or doesn't seem to curve at all. I may have to go back and see if someone can fix it; then again, maybe I'll just deal until after the interview, and go with a "known quantity", so to speak. Last thing I need is MORE cut off!
Can't push it back behind my shoulders, so it gets in my way. I'm not liking that. Thankfully my hair grows very quickly!
Doing the color today. Maybe that'll help. Sort of.
This happens every time I go to a "cheap" place. (Cost Cutters, Great Clips, etc.) Didn't have $40 to go to the good place this time, but it looks like I'll be paying for this one through at least a month of frustration and irritation.

Date: 2003-02-09 01:25 pm (UTC)what i would do if i were you is wait like two weeks, which'll give it a chance to grow just a little bit more (it doesn't sound like much but when your hair is as short as mine is, believe me, it's plenty), and then go in somewhere to have it fixed up. that way if they do have to make it a little shorter to get it right, it at least won't be *too* much shorter than it is already.
*sigh* at least it grows back, huh?

Date: 2003-02-09 01:32 pm (UTC)Mom was telling me about somebody new she went to in Waseca, who took ages just "playing" with her hair before even picking up a scissors, and pointed out why her hair never came out the way she wanted. Whoever had been cutting it before was cutting against the way the hair wanted to fall, which of course just doesn't work. Gave her a cut that would let the goofy parts grow out without being too noticable, and told her to pop in for a couple minutes in 2-3 weeks, and they'd touch up the bits that were growing out, no charge.
I think once this grows out a bit, I'm going to go get an appointment with whoever this person is! 80 miles each way ain't nothing for a decent, flattering haircut from someone who knows what they heck they're doing!
