Tarot card with 'I am God' message found in Maryland sniper hunt

I hope this doesn't lead to claims that the killer is a devil worshiper (trans: non-Judeo-Christian), or that using Tarot makes you a killer or something. Obviously, as with anything, there will be a couple of whack jobs who do so, but hopefully not the major papers.

So far, they're just referring to "The taunting message left on a Tarot card known as the Death card..."

Bugger, I had some thoughts on this, but they're all muddling up and fading away. I'd better go get some caffeine in my system before I lose all brain function.

Hi, random friend of a friend here but:

At a glance, I would actually think that it would make more sense to think that the wacko was somehow connected to either a legitimate Judeo-Christian faith or perhaps a member of a non-mainstream derivative of one.

A Tarot card referencing death along with claiming to be God would seem to point to someone who thinks that he has a particularly close connection to God... It's not like his use of the Tarot card was based on some very specialized or unique knowledge of Tarot cards, so it's possible that it was used for convenience or even as a red herring.

I dunno, Lately it just seems that every psycho who goes around doing something like this throws out clues hinting at his/her insanity and the cynical side of me can't help but wonder if that's not just a ploy to aid with an insanity defense if/when they're caught (i.e. they may be sick, but I'm not convinced that they're always "insane")
