Ha!

I've got work for next week!

Okay, so it's only about 25 hours worth, but it's something. I'll be able to take a week off of collecting unemployment. (Hopefully it's not enough to trigger my having to wait two weeks to start collecting again, or I'm screwed unless something else comes along REAL fast.)

I picked up an application for Borders a couple weeks ago, but haven't dropped it off yet. If I have to resort to retail to get by, it may as well be coffee/tea or books- something I actually LIKE. (I'm crap at selling, so liking the product makes a huge difference.) Only problem is, unless I'm making a certain amount and/or working 2-3 jobs (and there ARE only so many hours in a day), I end up worse off than I am now. Which is utterly insane.

Of course, with the current minimum wage so far below the poverty line, and many business refusing to hire people (primarily in "non-professional occupations") for more than 30-35 hours a week (much more and they have to pay benefits or overtime), can you really expect much else? Especially once you add in the fact that we've been in a recession for several months now. (Shrub's folks keep claiming it's all because of September 11th, but anyone actually out in the world knows that it's been months since we've had anything resembling a healthy economy.)
