Got a lot of little things done today.
Met someone from my networking group for coffee, and ended up going to see a condo that's for sale. (I'm open to the idea of buying, ifit will reduce my housing costs, which would make the budget a little easier.)
Went over to Dayton's, and the Arden salon and got a walk-in appointment. Yeah, it's more than I'd normally like to spend for a haircut, but back in the days when I had a decent income I discovered that they have the absolute best stylists in the world there. Since it's been something like 10 months since I got my hair cut, I figured I'd just get it done right- and after the last few weeks, the pampering of having someone really "do" your hair, scalp massage and all, was a sweet pick-me-up.
After she got started, I ended up having her trim off a little more. (yeah
rothko, don't faint, I actually asked for shorter) It's now back to just-barely-below shoulder length. And ready for an application of color, for which it's also overdue...
(This is not to say that hair stylists at other places aren't very good, too- I've just had really excellent luck with the ones there, and when you find a good one, well, you hang on to 'em!)
Then it was off to the Advanced Wireless store, where I checked out plans and phones, and changed my expired Sprint plan (which had started costing 25 cents per minute, with NO included time) for a VoiceStream plan that gives me a little more than I need in terms of minutes, but is in the right price range. (The best Sprint does is $35/month for a few thousand minutes- don't need it, ain't gonna use it, why waste the money?)
This also included getting a new phone (but I like my old one!)- ended up choosing a Samsung r225M. Since the VS network is all digital (no analog at all) I was thrilled to find a phone that was digital & GSM (no analog), and was able to get it for $19.95. So, if I ever get my ass over to Europe again, I will have a phone that works there, too. Very nice. (It'll cost- 99 cents a minute- but if I'm there and need to use my cell, odds are I won't be too concerned with the price!)
Got sucked into Godiva. Bad me. Bought three truffles, one of each of the summer flavors. (coconut macadamia, mango, and passionfruit). Made it out of the mall after getting sucked into one of the 80% off racks at Daytons, where I picked up a new (much needed) blouse/top nice and cheap.
Also picked up a new battery for my cordless phone, to replace the one that's gone flaky and can't seem to hold a charge for more than a couple hours- in use, it was down to about 10-15 minutes before it started the warning beeps.
So, productive, but not exactly how I'd planned to spend the day!
Sunday I got my taxes done and filed electronically (filed for an extension back in April- had to do two schedule C's, and was having one hell of a time with them); still need to mail off the printed copy of the renter's rebate, which will be done tomorrow.
Hurrah- a fair amount of money coming my way!

VoiceStream has been merging (partnering?) with Deutsche Telecom, which is why they're moving towards having all their phones be GSM capable.
And so far, unlike some telecom companies *coughqwestandworldcommcough*, I haven't heard anything about VoiceStream having "accounting irregularities".
"Accounting irregularities"... sounds like they just need some Metamucil, instead of the whump over the head they so richly deserve. :P
