Jun. 14th, 2002 05:06 pmWhat a crazy day...
Last night the migraine was combining with the abdominal pain to the point I broke down and popped one of my last two vicodin. Something woke me up around 4am, and for just a few gorgeous minutes I got to experience that blissful *absence* of pain.
Woke up again around 7:30am, and remembered that today's the day they were cleaning the garage so I needed to move my car to the lot. Did that, came back up, and started checking email. Then the phone rang, which led to a few more calls, and some more email. Then an epiphany- I knew why my cell bill suddenly seemed so much higher recently.
Better part of an hour on the phone listening to the customer service person swearing up and down that I'd never had any free minutes on my plan, and the number on my bills that corresponded with those non-existent minutes was actually all the time I'd spent using wireless web services. (I've never used the wireless web services on my phone.) Waited on hold a few times, occasionally having to remind him that "I'm looking right at two years of bills, as well as the original paperwork", and finally he comes back to tell me that yes, my plan had had 30 minutes free per month, but that expired in March 2002 after 24 months.
Ah-ha. Sure was nice of them to mention that. Up there with changing their payment address without even a note on the bill saying something like "please note our new payment address".
When was the last time a cell phone company found a reason NOT to call you, trying to get you to switch plans? I'm boggled.
So much for "fixing" that one.
A few more calls for the customer support work I do; more email. Sent a few more messages trying to get info for the documentation I'm trying to write.
Called the student loan people about extending my deferment, and the home & auto insurance about my renter's insurance. Wanted to doublecheck the premium- cripes, have you SEEN how they've jumped in the past year?? They even included an insert talking about the increase. Not a huge help, but I did get another 5% discount for the building sprinkler system- though I should have had that one ever since I moved into this apartment! (Yes, I did mention it to the agent at the time- don't know why it was never added.)
Anyway, by that point it was after 1pm, and I hadn't had a thing to eat or drink yet today. This could explain why I was feeling so pissy.
Having now had food, a quart-plus of water, and a 90-minute snooze (interrupted by another phone call), I'm feeling a lot closer to human.
Still not up for doing much of anything, but at least better!
Now, if the info for the documentation project would get here, and this %(*^$&@ abdominal pain would back off a little, I might even find a way of being productive this evening.
