asherisA lazy weekend- slept a lot. Stiff and achey today, which makes me wonder if I'm coming down with the Annual Fall Cold, or if it's just allergies. Certainly going to be a fun year for those!
Beyond sleeping, I didn't get much done. Did some laundry, and even folded it and got it put away. *gasp* Made some rice pudding, and started thinking about using the roast in the freezer to make sauerbraten this week. This is a task that requires forethought, as it has to marinate for four days.
Also fixed up a video cassette cabinet. Found it in the "freebies" space next to the recycling bin in the garage last weekend. Only things wrong with it were a couple of loose screws leaving it a bit wobbly, and whoever put it together put the plates for the magnetic closures in the wrong spots, so the doors wouldn't stay closed. A couple minutes with a screwdriver, and those were fixed! Other than that, it's in near perfect condition- no funny smells, or anything. I'd been trying to figure out where to put some of my extra video tapes...
You'd think with all this "time off", this place would be fabulously clean and organized and all that- HA!
Let's be honest- you get to mid/late afternoon after spending several hours making phone calls, digging through job ads, and sending resumes, look around, and think "eh, I'll clean tomorrow."
Been flipping around the channels tonight, and just ran into Biography's episode on Bob Newhart. Of course, they had to show the final scene from the last episode of Newhart, which is up there as one of the funniest closers in TV history.
I must be getting old, because I find myself thinking that you just don't find shows like that anymore. Funny, without tons of swearing, explicit sex, or political jokes. Not that I have anything against any of those, it's just refreshing to occasionally find something that doesn't rely on them to get by.
That's it... Newhart, the sorbet of TV comedy.
