Kansas is so desperate to put "intelligent design" into the science curriculum that for the purpose of the schools, they changed the definition of science.

Seriously. They really did.

Instead of the usual defitnition of science as "seeking natural explanations for what we observe around us," the new Kansas "standards" define science as "continuing investigation that uses observation, hypothesis testing, measurement, experimentation, logical argument and theory building to lead to more adequate explanations of natural phenomena."

Still don't really see how "id" fits in that either, as id has never - and simply can't - stand up to any tests, measurements, or experiments. It can't be observed, either. Nor is there anything in the historical record that supports it.

I guess it might fit under "theory building". But only for instances where "theory building" is defined as "wild ass guessing".

Almost expect to hear the idiots on the Kansas board who voted for this complaining that "science is too HARD" if you can't just claim "God did it". You know, without that easy out you might actually have to, oh, USE THE BRAIN GOD GAVE YOU. (To use their language.)
