What I did Tuesday
Oct. 7th, 2004 12:29 amI went to see Al Franken and Katherine Lanpher doing The Al Franken Show live at the Pantages Theater in Minneapolis. It was a free show, open to anyone.
It was day 4 of a migraine, but no way was I missing this one!
Picked up a copy of Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right before going in, in case of possible book signings. Which they did have, after the show:

(not the most flattering photo of me, but heck, who's looking at me?)
I was hoping Katherine would be out, too, but apparently she was taking care of some other things. (Katherine hosted MPR's "Midmorning" radio show for years; about damn time the woman started getting some national attention!)
It was a great time, and a great show. I'm glad I went.
"Name" guests included Minneapolis Mayor R. T. Rybak who was quite smart and funny; (former) Vice President Walter Mondale, who had some interesting background on North Korea; and Mike Mills and Michael Stipe of REM, in town to perform with the Vote for Change Tour that night over in St. Paul with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, John Fogerty, and Bright Eyes.
...many thanks to Jill, a complete stranger I met in the autograph line, who was nice enough to take pictures of a couple of people who'd forgotten their cameras (including me) and emailed us the photos when she got home.
