LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22):
George Washington was afflicted with smallpox, malaria, pleurisy, consumption, amoebic dysentery, rotten teeth, and Kleinfelter's syndrome. That didn't stop him from accomplishing feats that earned him a place in the history books. I suggest you make him your patron saint in the coming weeks, Libra. Draw inspiration from his heroic ability to overcome personal discomfort. You're in a prime position to render months of suffering irrelevant with a decisive triumph.

Well, hell.

Got down to the car this afternoon to head up for a couple hours at the filing/organizing job, and the car wouldn't start. Same thing as a couple months ago. Call #1 was to the shop, where (after they checked the records) I was assured that since it was the same problem as before there would be no charge to fix it again. That was good to hear.

Since I was on the line, I got some estimates for other work that's about due. AC recharge (since I've been without for over a year), tuneup, brake check, things like that.

Then AAA, for the tow. Got some guy who was obviously new, as he kept throwing in every possible variation on "can do" type comments. We can help you with that, we'll have you on your way soon, etc. Didn't seem very familiar with the system, but supposedly it's all in there. and the tow is on the way.

So I won't be going to work today, and I will probably end up shelling out more money.

Bleh.

Since I was stuck with no transport, I got a pile of work email dealt with earlier than planned, and decided to go check out the pool.

The complex here does have one, though due to maintenance issues (the tiling crew simply not showing up week after week, which mightily pissed off the management here) it didn't open this year until right before July 4th. This is the first time I've been over this year, and it is heavenly. Outdoor pools can be cold- not this one, at least not this year!! Lovely, warm-ish feeling, though not warm. I was able to swim many laps, without any muscle cramps due to too-cold water. Could have done more, but by that point I was the only one out there, and since I was getting tired it didn't seem smart to keep going.

I've got to start going over to swim as often as possible to take advantage of that lovely warm pool!

Maybe someone was trying to tell me something when I found that Speedo tank suit at Mervyn's a few weeks ago. I did buy it- been needing a new suit for a couple years due to dying elastic and all, plus it was a $50 suit, marked down to $18.75 (60+% off)? Heck yeah! (And it even looks decent on me!)
