Stopped to put gas in my car on the way home tonight. Got back into the car afterwards, turned the key, and... nothing. Tried a few things, but finally ended up calling AAA. Thought it might be the battery, but a jump didn't help. The tow truck driver tried to help me start it in a few nonstandard ways, but no go.

He's pretty sure it's the solenoid and/or the ignition switch. (It had better not be the starter; that was just replaced a year ago.)

Once again I found myself missing my old manual transmission Escort. For many problems, in a pinch you could pop the clutch to get her going, and at least get home and/or to the shop.

So this will be another expense I really could have done without.
