Oy, still with the sore throat and cough!

If it's still this bad tomorrow, I think I'll have to call the doctor and have them check for strep and/or other fun things. I keep telling myself it's just a combination of a bad cold and allergies, but cold and allergy meds aren't helping. This is not a good sign.

I will be well enough tonight to go to Episode II. Not exactly strenuous- pull on jeans and a turtleneck, go sit in a movie theater for a couple hours watching a show. I can manage that.

Help?

Right, as much as I hate it I'm stuck using Win98 for the time being. (I'd rather have a Mac.)

Last week Win98 died, and I ended up having to reinstall over the top. It left all the other programs intact- except for the fact that they won't run as Win98 doesn't know they're there.

Is there a way to get those programs recognized and working again, short of having to reinstall everything? I'd rather not have to spend another day just reinstalling software that is already on here. Not to mention I'm not sure where all the CD's are, having done two computer location moves in the last five months!

Any help greatly appreciated!

It's rather nice out today. Low 60's, sunny, light breeze. I've got the windows open wide to get fresh air in; it's a little chilly for sitting around but I've got blankets, and stay cozy. A little bit warmer, and I'd start transplanting seedlings. Or with the seedlings another week older, but hey.

On the down side, it's rather nice out today. This means a lot of people out for walks on the path through the woods below my balcony. I've noticed that the vast majority of them can only hold conversations at loud volumes, and despite a very clear path manage to sound like a herd or cattle travelling through dry brush. Not entirely relaxing for me, and it annoys the birds to no end.

My tea should be ready now, so time for that and another lie-down.

Heard this afternoon that plans to see Episode II tonight were scratched- too many other commitments among some of those going. Can't say as I'm that disappointed. Would be fun to see it opening day, but it's not like I'm a die-hard fan.

Yes, I did watch the fan-film awards. My personal favorites were Jar-Jar's Walking Papers for obvious reasons, also won the best animation honors; Star Wars: The Battle of Hoth, an excellent Ken Burns-style documentary; Sparring Program, winner of the young jedi award- the creator is only 17; and I have to admit, once I saw it, I rather liked Christmas Tauntauns, a clever, Pixar-style piece.

Right, oversteeped tea is calling.
