ta-da!

After two days of sheer hell, I have a functioning cable modem.

I've had to try every fix I knew of, spend a couple hours on the phone with M$ "support", and reinstalled win98 over the top to fix whatever the hell that disaster was Monday.

I've had a knick-knack fall and break, and I can't find all the pieces. Cedric, my feline gargoyle fell and his ear and wing are chipped (again, can't find all the pieces).

After the reinstall, I'm now having to uninstall and reinstall pretty much every bit of software I own.


Finally got things fixed enough that this morning I was able to use the old modem and dial up to download updated drivers- and win98 suddenly started recognizing the nic again, and boom, I had cable modem.


So much for easy...

Ugh... I seem to have come down with some nasty kind of creeping crud. Was feeling so exhausted after just a one-block walk yesterday that I knew something was off, but I chalked it up to ye olde time'o'the month combined with spring allergies.

Last night my throat started feeling like sandpaper and I was running a fever- guess it was a bit more than I initially though. Throat's mostly better today, but I'm still exhausted and I've picked up a lovely cough.

Maybe it's just BAD allergies... dare I hope?
