(no subject)

Haven't gotten much of anything done this weekend, really. Slept a lot both days, and I do mean a lot. As in probably 16 hours or more each. Sort of making up for a week of near insomnia, when I was managing about 5 hours each night, if I was lucky. (I must be getting old, how the heck did I survive on that little sleep in college??)

So far this weekend:

  • went to the library
  • stopped at the bank to deposit a check and pick up a little cash
  • put some gas in the car. Only $5 worth, which i never do, but it's going in to get work done tomorrow and I'm weird about things like that.
  • stopped to pick up eggs, which I forgot when shopping on Thursday; also bought a powerball ticket for the heck of it, didn't match a single number
  • picked up new keys at the office for the main building doors (they had to evict someone last week, plus there was a load of vandalism over Thanksgiving weekend. Apparently some fuckheads dumped stuff in the hot tub so that it was a greyish black, and urinated on the rocks/heating elements in the sauna, puked on the carpets, and assorted other such classy things.)
  • did two and a half loads of laundry, hopefully soon to be 3 1/2
  • cleaned out one side of the kitchen sink so I can color my hair later tonight
  • pulled the dead outdoor plants (which I'd brought inside hoping to nurse them through the winter, which failed) and took the pots out onto the balcony
  • vacuumed - not perfectly or everywhere, but got rid of the rest of the dead leaves, some assorted shed cat hair, and the major walkways

Yet to do (in no particular order):

  • about eleventy-seven hours of assorted work stuff, which I should have spent the weekend doing because I need the money
  • empty, reload, and run the dishwasher
  • strip the bed and wash the sheets; remake the bed after letting it air a bit
  • clean the cat box
  • color my hair
  • finish cleaning up the kitchen
  • make something healthy to eat, damnit, for the fist time since about Thursday, or maybe Wednesday, because I've been too tired to bother
  • clean off my desk, so that I can find things again
  • mend the three sweaters that all came up with holes/runs this week, see if another can be salvaged from assorted pulls, since I currently have no budget to replace any of them
  • start working out again, before I start looking like the Stay-Puft marshmallow man's sister
  • try to figure out what the heck I'm going to do for Christmas gifts

Have to take my car in again tomorrow. Had it in Wednesday about some horrendous noises from the driver's front. They fixed a few small things but after I picked up the car I found out within a block that they hadn't done squat about the noise. Which meant taking it back Thursday, and they fixed a few more little things, and figured out that the probably cause of the noise is a failed engine mount. (It's broken almost through, barely holding together, so everything's shifting around and making noise.) So back it goes tomorrow to get that done.

So far I've been charged a whopping $26 and change, them having done the work Thursday at no charge since they messed up Wednesday. The engine mount I have to pay for, which is fair. What sucks is that every day I have to take my car in, I lose 1-1.5 hours of work. (drop off car, walk the mile to the office, walk the mile back to pick it up, go drive with them to point out the noise is still there, etc.) Which means that by the time all is said and done tomorrow, I'll have lost pay worth about 1/3 the cost of the work that had to be done on my car.

Let's just say I'm remembering why I haven't gone to Affordable in years. Had to go back to there because the master mechanic at Custom Car Care left recently to sell insurance, and the guy who was supposed to start last Monday simply didn't show up. When they called to see why he wasn't there, he said he'd decided to take a different job. Hadn't bothered to call them, so instead of a fairly smooth transition they're left trying to find someone to fill the position, and having to turn away work in the meantime. So we're all getting screwed...

Maybe someday I'll be bursting with good news, but it sure doesn't feel like it right now.
